Unleashing Creativity: Top 15 LEGO Build Techniques of 2023
Diehard LEGO fans always look forward to the innovative use of parts in LEGO creations. Over the past six months, we have come across a plethora of amazing and unique build techniques from LEGO builders worldwide, ranging from the simply beautiful to the downright ingenious. Excited to share their creativity, we’ve curated our favorite 15 techniques that take LEGO building to a whole new level. Let’s dive into the cream of the crop!
1. Artistry in “Dissected Fish”
At the top of our list is a truly out-of-the-box creation – a dissected fish by Tino Poutiainen. The internal organs are made up of a variety of items including cherries, flowers, a pig, and a big-fig arm, offering some of the most unique parts usage.
2. The “Bic Viper” Spaceship
Second in line is the artistic “Bic Viper” spacecraft by Maxx Davidson, a delightful blend of creativity and character. Especially eye-catching is the roller-skate zipper around the cockpit.
3. The Bio-Cup 2023 Semifinalist Trio
Ranking third is Eero Okkonen‘s Bio-Cup 2023 semifinalist trio, which highlights the unmatched potential for character-building in LEGO.
4. The “Peacock” Extravaganza
The beautiful “Peacock” by Gerrit Gottschalk (gGh0st) is a delightful showstopper, flaunting unique elements such as watering cans as plumage eyes.
5. “The Starry Night” Mosaic
The fifth spot is occupied by the Christmas Kermit mosaic by Josh Parkinson which features an impressive lamp design using a dish element from The Starry Night set.
6. Colorful “Sylvia’s Studio”
Eli Willsea’s (ForlornEmpire) Summer Joust vignette, “Sylvia’s Studio,” demonstrates that creative part usage isn’t only about shapes. The colorful layout captures immediate attention.
7. The Bust by Steven Wayne Howard
The seventh position goes to a unique hairdo in the form of wings on a human bust by Steven Wayne Howard (@ghalad).
8. A Delightful Dragon
Next up is a charming dragon created by Jonah Schultz as part of the Iron Builder challenge, featuring Minecraft tridents forming the spikes on its back.
9. The Iconic Villain Dr. Eggman
Another marvel from “Woomy World”, the Lego depiction of an iconic villain, Dr. Eggman from Sonic comes in at number nine.
10. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Duo
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle duo by Maxx Davidson and Áron Gerencsér showcases many delightful part usages. Bebop’s snout nose and nose ring made from pretzels and handcuffs are especially brilliant.
